The Ranch
Ranch One – a world-class cutting horse operation that features all aspects of the industry. We are passionate about horses and love to share that with others.
Breeding
Ranch One is very fortunate to have Gretchen T. as Breeding Manager. Gretchen handles all aspects of the breeding program, from foaling to semen collection/shipments, to in-house embryo transfer. Our stallions include NCHA Gold Award and Futurity winner Peponitas Acre and world-class champions, Billie Brow Cat and Show Biz Pep. The brood mare band includes two-time NCHA World Champion Mare and Hall of Fame member, Harriott Playgirl, and Gold Award winner, Oh Cay Liberty, along with daughters of High Brow Cat, Shorty Lena, and Freckles Merada.
Training
Resident trainer Bill Miller brings to Ranch One his ability to turn out solid, well-trained horses that excel in the cutting pen. Our philosophy is to produce world-class cutting horses. The horses that don’t make that grade are ready to work in other events. Ranch One's foals and yearlings are given basic handling and kept in the pasture to grow in a natural environment. In January of their two-year old year they begin serious, under saddle training. By summer of their two-year old year they are working cattle. As three-year-olds they are evaluated and go on to more in depth training. Graduates of our training program have gone on to excel in calf & steer roping, working cow horse, barrels, penning, sorting, ranch work, and pleasure.
Showing
Ranch One is home of Arena One, the South's most exciting new equine facility. National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) sanctioned shows are held in Arena One an average of sixty days per year. We enjoy hosting the shows and welcome beginners and pros alike to experience the excitement of the cutting horse. Other shows are being added as we grow. 2010 will be the third year we are proud to welcome back the NW Mississippi District 4-H Horse Show with contestants competing in events ranging from roping and goat tying to hunter under saddle. A Cowboy Mounted Shooting show was an added event at Ranch One in 2009 and is returning in 2010.
