Our Story
Lee Garner - Owner
It all began 20 years ago, over a bet. Ranch-owner Lee Garner was encouraging his son, Little Lee, to show cutting horses. When he didn't do very well, Lee scolded his son. Little Lee replied, "It's harder than you think it is. You try it!"
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Lee bet his son $100 he could beat him in a cutting on one of the brood mares from the pasture, in just 30 days. It was a hard lesson Little Lee taught his father, when Big Lee lost a cow and scored a 68 to Little Lee's 72.
"When I got off the horse my knees buckled I was that embarrassed!", Big Lee laughed. While he lost the bet, he gained a lifelong passion. Two years later, Lee Garner went on to win the 1990 Non-Pro World Champion title.
His success didn't stop there. Lee was inducted into the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame in 1993, and he won the coveted NCHA Non-Pro Futurity on Peponitas Acre in 1996. More recently, Lee became the $10,000 Novice Non-Pro World Champion in 2002, and that same year also rode Cow E Chick, the $10,000 Novice Reserve World Champion. Lee has also made the Top 10 nine times in the Non-Pro World Standings.
Determined to grow the sport in the South, Lee built Ranch One to breed top performing horses and to host accessible, family-oriented cutting shows.
